Dear Dave Ryan,

How many of you have ever had a school picture disaster? Hair look like you just stuck your finger in an electrical socket? Did you forget it was school picture day and wear your PJs?And please, don't kid yourself, do you think it takes a private investigator to find evidence of the donut you wore for breakfast that morning? If you answered yes to any of the above, then you should know what our fearless freshman blogger Andrew Marton is talking about in his latest post on Freshman Follies (our freshman blog). See you all on re-take day...

After the Warriors' painful defeat last Friday against the L-S Warriors, WSPN Sports Editor Evan Barber and correspondent Riley Starr sat down for some post-game analysis. If you missed the game, check out their article; they went through the plays that made this one such a nail-biter. A big thanks to student council for organizing the "blackout" and tailgate party. Student council raised $6,000 for the METCO program with the event, enough to fund the METCO late bus 3 days a week until December. It was great to see the giant sea of orange and black spirit under the lights! Better luck next time Warriors!

Political blogger Basil Halperin didn't let the 8th anniversary of the U.S. war in Afghanistan go unnoticed. President Obama inherited two wars from former President Bush back in January, and within a month called for a complete overhaul of American strategy in Afghanistan. Check out the latest on The Basil Report to find out more about the latest developments in Afghanistan, and Mr. Obama's war.

That wraps up some of the latest from our news desk. For all of the latest news, blogs, galleries, and videos, point those browsers over to waylandstudentpress.com, check out our mobile news feeds on Twitter, and keep looking for our weekly newsletters. Happy Columbus Day (and Canadian Thanksgiving).

Enjoy the long weekend all!
